Best firm mattress 2021 : Purple 3 & What to know about mattress types
Wife and I have been needing a new mattress for years but kept putting it off. We are presently using a 10 year old bob-o-pedic with 2 different densities because I like mattresses softer and the wife likes to sleep on a firmer mattress.
We’ve been researching mattresses for months trying to decide on the right one. We thought we would stick with a memory foam as that was what we were used to. We also needed to keep to a very foldable mattress or a bed-in-a-box as the stairs to our bedroom are too narrow to move a normal mattress. We went into many stores and tried out many different mattresses and just 2 days ago, we picked the King size Nectar Lush. It was $1500 with added items like pillows, sheets and I think a topper. After thinking about it through the rest of the day/night we went to Mattress Firm yesterday to purchase it.
Walking in we saw the Purple mattresses lined up on the far wall. I avoided the purple as I honestly thought the technology was stupid. Who wants to sleep on an egg crate? We decided to try it out as we were waiting for the salesman. I had no intention of getting one…
An hour later I purchased the king size Purple 3 hybrid.
Though the cost was $3,000 (ouch my wallet) it really was comfortable. More bouncy than I am used to, but laying on my side was great! They talk of pressure points and to be aware of them in all the review videos on Youtube and I now completely understand what they are talking about. My shoulders were not scrunched up into my neck laying on either side and the rest of my body was supported perfectly. With the right pillow I think I may have found the perfect mattress.
I also was told that the Nectar mattresses are a month out for delivery in case anyone reading this is thinking about buying one. I was able to pick the delivery date for the Purple 3 and got a zero-cost gold delivery service where they bring it inside, unbox it, and set it up. I’ve heard the Purple is very heavy so I am happy to not needing to do it myself.
Looking forward to the new mattress.

In our guide to choosing a mattress, we show you how to determine whether a mattress will offer enough support and pressure relief for your body, what size mattress to choose, when to buy, and what to ask the salesperson (or live-chat attendant) to figure out if a mattress is durable.
